It’s been an exciting start to the job of being your local Councillor. I’ve surged straight out of an election campaign and right into advocating on behalf of Pullenvale Ward residents for Budget 2016/17 allocations. Our Ward covers a very large area totalling 318km2 – so there’s a lot to do!
I’ve been busily meeting with Community groups, residents, business owners, social and sporting groups across the Ward. There is so much to love about living in an area that uniquely blends residential and rural lifestyles, and our Ward has benefitted from Lord Mayor Graham Quirk handing down the budget. Road safety, exercise and playground equipment, sporting facilities, upgrading recreational attractions and road resurfacing are all being funded for the Pullenvale Ward.
One particular project I’d like to highlight is the funding for a Dog Off Leash Area Facility at the Mt Crosby Sportsground at Sumers Rd, Chuwar. Residents have made several requests over a period of time for a designated dog park. Thanks to this budget, funding has been allocated for a fully fenced facility complete with water taps, dog drinking bowls, sheltered seating and double maintenance gates. The entire area will cover approximately 3000m2. The dog park will be a welcome addition to the existing grounds where local clubs play sports – including cricket and soccer – which is great news for families, sporting groups, dog owners and kids who love to play on the playground equipment.
I look forward to delivering this upgrade to the community and I will continue to fight hard on your behalf for even greater improvements to the Pullenvale Ward.
