Long before e-books, Kindles and Amazon, there was the Mobile Library! Remember the days when a big Council bus would roll up, stuffed full of books with hardly any room to move inside? Then, in the 80’s and 90’s those buses became trailers with ventilation, stairs and awnings. From 2004, as the delivery of additional library services to communities with low population densities became more popular, the trailers transformed into trucks with even more capacity. Now, here we are in 2016 with an entirely new Mobile Library sporting a modern and contemporary design outfitted with a deck and awning, stair access with a wheelchair lift, generators, solar panels, toilet facilities, computers, Wi-Fi and of course, loads more BOOKS!
Come and take a look, maybe even borrow a book. Every Thursday at the Bellbowrie Shopping Plaza car park from 9:30am – 4pm.
