The definition of Community: a group of people living in the same place.
The idea of communitty suggests a social group of people residing in a specific location, sharing common interests, a physical neighbourhood or perhaps a wide span of like-minded individuals creating a larger society. The Pullenvale Ward – with its 318km2 geographical expanse – is a growing community of people, flora, fauna, businesses, education, social gatherings, recreational facilities, sporting grounds, fairs, fetes and shows, Clubs, Associations and Groups…all located here on common ground.
As your elected Councillor, I believe a connected community is a cohesive community. I also maintain that we have chosen to live in one of the most exquisite environments around. Where else can over 50, 000 residents claim that their home is located in a state capital ‘where city living meets country lifestyle’?
From Mt Coot-tha to Kholo and all the way up to England Creek there are thriving communities of people, plants and animals that rely on the influence of healthy and sustainable community practices.
There are over 110 Community Groups in the Pullenvale Ward. In this edition of The Pullenvale Post I am highlighting the inspired work of the Karana Downs Rotary Club for building the Emergency Response Shed – a valuable resource for the entire community.
